College of Visual & Performing Arts
Dean's Welcome Mr. Ted Barnes It is my pleasure to welcome you to the College of Visual and Performing Arts. You will find it filled with information about the College, our excellent programs, and our talented students and faculty. In June of 2007, I was honored to become the Dean of the College and from the very beginning it has been an exciting and enjoyable experience. Our goal is to prepare students for professional careers in art, music, and theatre by emphasizing learning through individual attention and personal exploration within the framework of a "faith Informed" environment. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor recognizes the arts as being of major importance to the whole of the University and has committed itself to supporting art, music, and theatre. This support has taken the form of an exciting new building project designed to house our many different programs. Phase 1 of this project includes a new art building, a new band rehearsal hall, the renovation of The Hughes Recital Hall, and a re-configuration and upgrade of Presser Hall. Looking to the future, the College of Visual and Performing Arts wishes to combine its tradition of care and concern for individual students with the excitement that expanding opportunities bring. It is this blend of creativity and continuity, which makes the College of Visual and Performing Arts a special place to study. I hope you will find this information enjoyable and useful. I invite you to be a supporter of the College as a student, friend, or patron; your participation is welcome and your support will enhance our programs and is crucial to our success. We are at an exciting point in the life of our College and with your support we can fulfill our commitment as leaders in Christian higher education. Purpose The College of Visual and Performing Arts is an integral part of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and operates in accordance with the overall mission of the University.
