Solar System Model
The Maine Solar System Model was completed in 2003, and consisted of the sun, nine planets and seven moons. The scale for the model is one mile to the astronomical unit, which equals the 93,000,000-mile distance from the Earth to the Sun. The model originally extended from the University, where the Sun is located, to the Houlton Information Center, which hosts Pluto.
