Blanche and Luther Coggin Bio
Blanche and Luther Coggin are long-time friends of the University of North Florida. Luther served on the Board of Trustees of the University of North Florida from 2002 to 2010 and they both served on the steering committee for the University’s successful Access to Excellence capital campaign. The Coggins served as honorary co-chairs for the recently concluded Power of Transformation campaign. Nowhere is his influence seen more clearly on campus than in the college named in his honor—the Coggin College of Business—through which he has provided scholarships, fellowships and professorships. For all of his service to UNF and his wide–ranging civic involvement, he was recognized with the Prime F. Osborn III Distinguished Business Leader Award from the Coggin College of Business and was made a UNF Honorary Alumni.
Luther Coggin served as President of Coggin Pontiac Inc., Coggin Automotive Corp. and Jacksonville. Coggin also serves as an Officer in Other Subsidiaries and Affiliates since 1970. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Coggin Automotive until 2003. From 1951 to 1967, he served as Vice President and General Manager of Luther Coggin Oldsmobile, Birmingham, Ala. He served as an Officer in Cogginville Incorporated, Birmingham, Ala. He served Coggin Pontiac Inc. since 1967, and Marianna, Fla. since 1969.
Coggin is engaged in numerous outside business and philanthropic enterprises. He served as the chairman of the Board of Directors of Cygnet Financial Corporation, Cygnet Private Bank. He serves as a Director of Legacy Trust Company and Cygnet Private Bank.
