Upgrades in 2011 won the Smith Center LEED Gold certification. The university's primary sports complex achieves optimized energy performance through highly insulated exterior wall systems, energy-efficient windows and an Energy Star white roof. As a result, energy performance exceeds the standard for commercial buildings.
