Lisner Auditorium is the university?s premier venue for concerts, performances, lectures and other cultural entertainment. Since opening its doors in 1946, Lisner Auditorium has hosted world famous musicians, dancers, intellectuals and entertainers. The diverse list of guests and performers includes the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Toni Morrison, Brett Young, D.R.A.M., Jay Leno, Elvis Costello, Ben Folds, Solange, Brazilian musician Gilbert Gil and African sensation Angelique Kidjo. Additional appearances have been made by Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, U.S. Supreme Court Justices Ginsburg, Breyer, Alito, Sotomayor and Kagan, as well as Senator Bernie Sanders, Anderson Cooper, Alec Baldwin, former First Lady Michelle Obama and former President Barack Obama. Students can often purchase discounted tickets to some events, making it easy to experience world-class entertainment right in the heart of the Foggy Bottom Campus.
